The Courts Service are hiring a Junior / Graduate Developer (EO) to join our ICT team. This position is hybrid.
The Role:
The role reports to an Experienced Developer and is responsible for performing analysis, design and the implementation of new digital solutions using bespoke and commercial off-the-shelf software. Responsibilities also include the analysis and definition of requirements for the migration of legacy technologies to modern solutions and the implementation of these projects, and the support and maintenance of digital services. This role will work alongside the Applications team members, other ICT teams, contractors, vendors and business stakeholders.
The Developer role is both technical and business facing, the candidate must demonstrate strong technical skills and expertise (there will be hands-on technical work required) whilst also being capable of managing projects. The role contributes to a team driving digital transformation through the implementation of digital services that meet the Courts Service business needs and strategic goals. This role will assist in the design and adoption of modern user-centric business processes, and work with the business users to foster a co-creation agile approach to change.
Key Responsibilities:
Digital Expertise
- Assist in the creation, delivery, operation and support of enterprise grade digital services using be-spoke software development and commercial off-the-shelf software solutions using a broad range of technologies.
- Assist in the production of high-quality digital solutions by adopting appropriate quality assurance processes.
- Use of user-centric, co-creation, agile and develops methodology to support continuous integration and continuous delivery of solutions.
- Support legacy solutions and contribute to their migration to modern tooling and services, including public cloud.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Proactively engage with a wide variety of stakeholders, from judiciary, staff and legal practitioners to state bodies in order to ensure digital solutions provided deliver value.
- Participate in working groups, workshops and other fora as required to advance the digital agenda.
Procurement
- Support the team’s activity by participating in procurement initiatives to source products and services required.
Team
- Actively seeks new knowledge in the technical domain and also seeks out an understanding of the business of the Courts Service.

Requirements:
Qualifications
- IT degree at graduate level or 2 years relevant industry experience.
Skills and Experience Required
- Ability to be hands-on in the development of at least proofs-of-concepts and pilot projects using a common development language, framework or low code platform
- Implementation and support of digital services in enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Knowledge of technologies, particularly in the software development space
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
