Role Description
This is a Financial Director part-time role located in Greater Dublin at VRAI. As a Financial Director, you will be responsible for overseeing financial activities, preparing reports, analysing data, and providing strategic financial guidance to drive business growth. Your day-to-day tasks will involve managing budgets, owning cash flow, forecasting financial outcomes, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
This role will report directly to the COO of the business. This is a hands-on role in a small but fast-growing company and will suit someone who really wants to use metrics and data to influence the company strategy.
Role Overview:
- Responsible for all financial operations, and financial reporting in VRAI
- Lead financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Serve as a strategic partner to the organization, providing insights to support key decisions and drive long-term business plans
- Adaptability and flexibility, willingness to embrace change and work effectively in ambiguous situations
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Oversee finance operations, including financial planning, analysis, and risk management.
- Provide analysis and commentary on financial matters to the leadership team, acting as a strategic partner to support the growth of the organisation, promote financial competence, and drive continuous improvement.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including variance analysis, forecasts, new business written, margin calculations, and provision details.
- Develop budgets and forecasts in collaboration with the leadership team.
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations in the development of new products or changes.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for submission to the Board and investors.
- Provide input on pricing strategies, balancing sales volume, margins, and profitability.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in finance, accounting, and/or related field
- Extensive professional experience in finance and accounting
- Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate verbally and in writing to all levels of the organization
- Confidence and assertiveness, with strong influencing skills across business functions and the ability to deliver difficult messages when necessary
- Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable spending 1 to 2 days (or portion thereof) working in the VRAI office in Dublin city centre
