The Financial Accountant will report to the Finance Manager and will be responsible in supporting the existing Finance function in AXA Life Europe. Primary areas of responsibility involve carrying out the monthly and quarterly accounting and reporting processes, including the consolidation and head office allocations processes, expense management, as well as supporting group reporting requirements.
There will be an expectation for this role to become knowledgeable in all areas critical to the functioning of the finance team and to keep up to date with all instructions and communications to ensure reporting is met in a timely and accurate manner. Good understanding of accounting rules and reporting/disclosure requirements under IFRS and Irish GAAP. Will require regular interaction and building good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
The contract is fixed term for 15 months.
Main Activities
The Financial Accountant will be responsible for:
- The monthly / quarterly accounting closing processes.
- Managing the expense process – monthly/quarterly expense allocations and closing processes, actual v budget analysis.
- Co-ordinating with the accounts payable and treasury function for payment runs and other treasury activities.
- Assisting statutory audit process in dealing with the external auditors.
- Preparation of monthly / quarterly management information including Activity Indicators, Margins Analysis, Expense Analysis etc.
- Supporting the budgeting and forecasting reporting requirements of ALE.
- Ensuring all Group reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time, and liaising with Group on any related queries as they arise.
- Maintaining finance procedures for both accounting and reporting processes.
- Maintaining systems / controls to ensure adequate backup documentation / audit trail.
- Other ad hoc tasks and projects as may be required.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant with ACA, ACCA.
Experience:
- Big Four Professional Services Experience is preferable.
- Experience in financial services industry sector would be an advantage, but not essential.
- Experience in the life assurance sector would be an advantage, but not essential.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Highly developed organisational skills.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency working with Microsoft Office software.
