Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for processing & providing accurate and timely information on financial and business performance.
The Role
Working as part of a small dynamic and high performing finance team in the preparation of monthly financial reports and management information. The main areas of responsibility will include.
Entry And Control Of Accounting For The Following Areas
- Fixed Assets – Preparation, Maintenance and reconciliation of the Fixed Asset register monthly.
- Customers’ Billing – Ensuring the timely preparation of invoices, posting to Business Central and ensuring these are sent to customers.
- Revenue postings - Prepare and post monthly revenue journals, including stage of completion journals and journals in accordance with IFRS 15 schedules prepared by technical accounting team to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
- Leases (IFRS16) - Preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ROU assets and lease liabilities schedules monthly.
- Oversee preparation of one of the overseas entity’s reporting to be included in the Group’s consolidated monthly and annual accounts, liaise with local accounting provider on monthly postings to ensure the local accounting records reconcile with the group’s accounting records for this subsidiary.
- Accruals and prepayments schedules – being responsible for monthly Accrual and Prepayments schedules’ preparation and ensuring files reconcile monthly. Completion of monthly recharge invoice.
- Preparation of the month end reporting accounts file. Explanation of variances.
- Ad hoc / Miscellaneous requests as required by the Finance Manager.
- Manage foreign exchange rates in the accounting system and run revaluations.
- Manage CSO returns for the Group.
- Balance sheet reconciliations completed monthly.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and assist with the monthly consolidation and close process.
- Assisting in the annual audit process, preparing necessary analysis where required.
- Liaising with Financial controls and technical accounting and FP&A teams to ensure necessary support and information is provided to them on a timely basis (e.g. information for tax returns or cashflow for areas of responsibility).
- Driving process improvement across the month end close process.
- Establish strong collaborative working relationships with relevant stakeholders and departments.
- Approval of payments for vendors and salary on a timely basis on the bank.
- Ad hoc financial projects as requested.
Required Skills And Experience
- Top 10 trained qualified ACCA/ACA
- 1 year post qualification experience
- Strong technical accounting skills including broad knowledge of IFRS 15, IAS 38 and IFRS 16.
- Experience of working in fast month end close process.
- Experience in continuous process improvement projects.
- Ability to work on own initiative and demonstrate good organisational and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including the ability to research and simplify complex situations.
- Attention to detail.
- Team player who takes initiative and works constructively with others to achieve team goals.
- Good interpersonal skills, strong communicator both orally and in writing.
