Job Description:
The Greenlake Platform Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (PIE) team is looking for a Cloud Developer Intern. This person will work closely with the PIE team to build cloud-based solutions that meet the demands of mission-critical applications. This role is designed for students or recent graduates with a strong interest in cloud technology, eager to learn hands-on skills in cloud development, data management, and technical problem-solving.
As a Cloud Developer Intern, you'll get involved in the foundational work that brings innovative solutions to life, breaking down complex data, engineering new ideas, and collaborating with project teams to design, prototype, and implement cloud solutions. Through this internship, you’ll gain exposure to various cloud platforms, applications, and tools, contributing to both development and operations as you learn.
Start Date: January 2025 (~ 8 month)
Location: Galway preferred (or Ireland)
Mandatory Requirements: Enrolled in an University during the internship
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in Development: Support the development team by helping with the design, prototyping, and implementation of cloud-based solutions, under the guidance of experienced developers.
- Technical Problem Solving: Apply foundational technical skills to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and suggest improvements to existing cloud infrastructure.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, senior developers, and other interns to help ensure smooth delivery, deployment, and operation of cloud projects.
- Monitoring and Support: Learn and assist in monitoring cloud environments and tools, understanding key metrics and alerting systems to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Documentation: Contribute to the documentation of code, processes, and procedures to support knowledge sharing across the team.
Key Learning Opportunities:
- Cloud Platforms: Gain practical experience in one or more cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Hands-On Development: Develop coding skills through real-world tasks, working on scriptwriting, configuration management, and automation.
- Foundational DevOps Practices: Understand the basics of continuous integration, deployment (CI/CD), and cloud operations.
- Project Exposure: Experience a project lifecycle from planning to monitoring, gaining insight into agile methodologies and cross-functional teamwork.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- Basic Knowledge: Familiarity with programming languages (Python, Java, or similar), cloud concepts, and fundamental networking is a plus.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrates an interest in troubleshooting and problem-solving with guidance from mentors.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an eagerness to ask questions and learn.
