About the Role
I have been asked to exclusively recruit for a brand new role into their growing technical team here in Dublin - an Application Support Engineer with strong SQl development skills which will provide vital technical assistance for the trading desk and support back-office processes, with a primary focus on bond and loan trading, as well as CLO warehousing.
This position requires a solid understanding of financial instruments, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-moving environment. The successful candidate will possess strong communication abilities, collaborating effectively with traders, portfolio managers, and operations teams. They should be proactive, team-oriented, and able to continuously improve support functions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver prompt, hands-on support for trading platforms and integration systems.
- Engage with business users to gather requirements, assist in system design, and execute implementation.
- Uphold high standards in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) with a focus on automation and regression testing.
- Build and update a comprehensive internal knowledge repository.
- Provide training sessions for both new and existing business users.
- Develop and oversee compliance testing specifically for CLOs.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in the financial industry, with knowledge of bond and loan products.
- Very strong SQL skills (being able to code in SQL and at a level to a junior developer)
- Proficient in SQL Server T-SQL, with strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused mindset.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming (Python preferred), Microsoft SSIS/SSRS, and XML.
- Experience with trading systems such as BlackRock Aladdin or Charles River, as well as portfolio accounting systems like Geneva.
- Knowledge of scheduling tools (e.g., Active Batch, Control-M, Autosys) is advantageous.
