In Ireland, Abbott employs over 6,000 people across ten sites. We currently have six manufacturing facilities located in Clonmel, Cootehill, Donegal, Longford and Sligo and a third-party manufacturing management operation in Sligo. Vascular Division Clonmel
Abbott Vascular is one of the world's leading vascular care businesses. Abbott Vascular Clonmel is uniquely focused on advancing the treatment of vascular disease and improving patient care by combining the latest medical device innovations with world-class pharmaceuticals, investing in research and development and advancing medicine through training and education. Our broad line of vascular devices Manufactured in Clonmel includes vessel closure, endovascular and coronary technologies–These devices are designed to treat heart attack, stroke, critical limb ischemia and other serious vascular conditions.
Abbott Vascular Clonmel is the largest Abbott Manufacturing facility in Ireland focusing on both manufacturing and research and development of next generation vascular products.
Purpose Statement:
Provide Process/Quality Engineering support to manufacturing, helping ensure delivery of the highest quality product to the customer. Also provide Process/Quality Engineering support to product development teams, ensuring the development of the highest quality new products.
Responsibilities
1. Identifies manufacturing process defects (e.g., scrap, non-conforming material, customer complaints) by addressing non-conforming materials, identifying root causes, and suggesting corrective/preventative actions. May handle data queries for basic product stops.
2. Assists in developing product quality plans, documents, and systems, including contributing to product specifications, quality plans, risk analyses, and Failure Mode Effect Analyses (FMEAs).
3. Becomes proficient in using process monitoring systems to reduce process variation and defects by identifying critical steps and applying corrective methods.
4. Supports product/process improvement by gathering quality metric data and applying analytical methods for product design and new product development.
5. Gains proficiency in quality tools and training materials, understanding the evolution and application of these tools.
6. Participates in validation activities, such as providing input to protocol/report writing and managing validation execution.
7. Contributes to corrective and preventive action initiatives.
8. Participates in Field Discrepancy Notification (FDN) investigations.
Education & Job Skills
1. Education/Experience: Requires NFQ Level 7 qualification or equivalent experience. Strong Regulatory and Compliance background or Previous experience in Project management with Quality Experience.
2. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of quality system concepts, practices, and regulatory compliance.
3. Cognitive Skills: Ability to analyze moderately complex situations and data, applying judgment for appropriate actions.
4. Influence/Leadership: Develops internal/external networks, mentors peers, and occasionally leads tasks or projects.
5. Planning/Organization: Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks. A proactive approach to identifying and addressing quality concerns before they escalate.
6. Decision Making: Uses judgment within defined parameters. Errors may lead to delays or resource misallocation. A keen eye for detail to catch potential quality issues early
7. Supervision Provided: Provides limited guidance to team members, mentors new engineers, and supports development planning.
