The Operations Manager will oversee and optimize the day-to-day operations of solar and wind energy projects, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency across installations, maintenance, and service delivery. The role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, managing resources, and ensuring that all activities align with the company’s mission to provide sustainable energy solutions. The Operations Manager will be responsible for meeting operational goals, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring regulatory compliance in both solar and wind energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations Management
- Oversee the operational processes of both solar and wind energy installations, maintenance, and service activities.
- Establish and enforce compliance with safety regulations and quality standards for solar and wind energy systems.
- Develop, implement, and refine policies and procedures to optimize operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and manage a diverse team of technicians, engineers, and support staff for both solar and wind operations.
- Conduct performance evaluations, and create professional development plans to enhance team skills.
- Promote a collaborative, safety-conscious, and goal-oriented work culture.
- Project Planning & Coordination
- Work closely with project managers to allocate resources effectively and support project timelines and budget targets.
- Track progress on solar and wind projects, adjusting plans to overcome obstacles and ensure timely completion.
- Address and resolve operational issues, particularly those unique to dual-energy systems.
- Vendor & Inventory Management
- Build relationships with key suppliers and contractors, ensuring cost-effective procurement and timely delivery.
- Oversee inventory levels for both solar and wind components, managing logistics and minimizing material costs.
- Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships for critical wind and solar parts and services.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Conduct routine site inspections for both solar and wind installations to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement quality control protocols to maintain high standards in installation and maintenance services.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives based on feedback from field performance and customer satisfaction.
- Customer Service & Client Relations
- Collaborate with customer support teams to resolve service issues and improve client satisfaction in both solar and wind services.
- Act as a point of contact for high-priority client issues, particularly those involving service issues across energy types.
- Reporting & Analytics
- Generate regular reports on operational metrics, including productivity, project timelines, and adherence to budgets.
- Analyse operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement in both solar and wind operations.
- Present findings and recommendations to the leadership team to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Renewable Energy, Engineering, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Six Sigma are a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2+ years in operations management, preferably within the renewable energy sector, with direct experience in both solar and wind energy operations.
- Proven track record managing complex, multi-site projects, diverse teams, and budgets in the renewable energy industry.
- Familiarity with solar PV, wind turbine technology, and the unique regulatory requirements for each.
- strong understanding of batteries and energy storage systems.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana), and ERP systems.
- Understanding of quality management tools (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) and ability to read blueprints, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for solar and wind energy installations.
