PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Engineering Manager main responsibilities will include;
- To provide a Facilities, Instruments and/or Manufacturing Engineering service to the plant, in order to maximise the availability of Testing Instruments, Plant and/or Manufacturing Equipment.
- To ensure continual compliance with the policies relating to Personnel, Quality, Engineering, Safety and Finance.
- To control all relevant engineering budgets. To develop the Engineering team with the emphasis on continual operational improvements and employee development.
The primary responsibility of the Engineering Manager will include the following:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recommend/implement improvements to safety standards. Liaise directly with other departments in accident/incident investigations and address any issues arising from these investigations.
- Preparation and management of departmental budgets to agreed time-lines.
- Preparation of Capital Expenditure Requests for Plant and manufacturing equipment.
- Manage and support the Engineering Team in ensuring that facilities, instruments and testing support activities, utilities and equipment are maintained to meet the required legal, divisional and corporate standards.
- Compliance with requirements of plant Quality System, internal CAPA system, i.e. NCR initiation, investigation preparations, CAPA plan preparation, corrective action completion, etc.
- Liaise with Division Engineering.
- In conjunction with the Calibration Co-coordinator ensure compliance with calibration requirements.
- Ensure that the team supports projects meeting milestones and validation plans.
- Implement relevant engineering projects to support on-going EHS plans.
- Manage Risk insurers audit assessment and ensure compliance.
- Identify and manage the development needs of the engineering Team to ensure optimum use of resources and succession plans.
- Ensure each individual in the team has an annual Performance Appraisal.
- Identify and implement CIP’s.
- Ensure the implementation of an efficient Energy Management Programme and implement initiatives to reduce energy requirement and costs.
- Ensure External contractors are managed and supervised.
- Negotiate Cost / Quality Effective External Contracts.
- Ensure the effective management of appropriate internal and external plant projects.
EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES:
- Third Level Qualification in a relevant discipline
- 2 years’ experience in Technical Engineering Leadship position and/or 5 years experience of manufacturing operations in healthcare type industry.
- Detailed functional knowledge required of wide range of manufacturing equipment.
- Proven capabilities in validation and change management
- Must be self-starter with ability to organise and work within a team.
