About the Role
This position has primary responsibility to ensure financial control is maintained within Alimera Sciences International, a subsidiary of ANI Pharmaceuticals, including reporting process, timely filing of tax returns. The Director, Finance International will retains a constant awareness of the financial position of Alimera Sciences International and ensuring proactive approach is taken to anticipate challenges and prevent problems arising. You will drive the financial planning processes within Alimera Sciences International, deliver timely reporting of financial metrics versus plan and ensure compliance with internal policies including US SOX for financial authority and sign-off, providing training to staff to ensure systems are used efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Actively lead, participate and coordinate budgeting and forecasting process along with the long-range operating plan process. Develop Planning and Forecasting guidance for the division. Prepare materials on Actual Results, Budget and Forecast financials.
- Provide, in collaboration with appropriate colleagues, Divisional Financial Key Performance Metrics. Prepare presentations and provide critical inputs for various meetings and discussions of senior management
- Develop deep understanding of strategy for supported regions and how those strategies are linked to our financial plans; understand the story behind the numbers. Proactive approach to financial planning, anticipating issues and taking steps to prevent them from happening
- Oversee all international VAT filings (monthly, quarterly, annual) by providing support to the VAT preparer and ensuring that both international and US management are kept updated on status
- Oversee and interface on all international tax filings by providing support to the tax preparer and ensuring that both international and US management are kept updated on status
- Key point person for international budgeting, forecasting, and providing monthly readouts to the international operations team
- Oversee and work with the operations team to develop the annual budget that will be rolled up to the US parent
- Act as a Finance business Subject Matter Expert; working closely with Technology teams for enabling Financial systems and reports for international business management
- Oversee all Stat audit and internal SOX control operations that affect International
- Provide assistance as needed to the external Parent auditor as part of the consolidated financial reporting requirements
- Review accounts receivable for the international locations
- Prepare timely and detailed performance reports on a monthly, quarterly and YTD basis
- Conduct analyses to challenge forecasts and explain variances
- Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines in all markets where Alimera is doing business
- Control related to all leases held in International Segment
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant finance and accounting experience
- Proven experience as a Director of Finance or similar - CPA/Accountancy qualified
- SOX Experience
- Prior healthcare/pharmaceutical experience strongly preferred
- Global experience recommended with a focus on reporting up to the US
- In-depth knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles, laws and best practices in different countries of Europe
- An analytical mind with strategic as well as operational capability – with a solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
- Demonstrated ability to handle competing priorities effectively
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills - with people from diverse cultural backgrounds

- The office language is English, but a working knowledge of other European languages is highly desirable
