Todays' RCM is inherently complex due to opaque and payer-specific adjudication rules, incurring significant waste and inefficiency. Optum Insight is committed to delivering new technology and processes to improve the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) workflow using advances in Gen AI and other state-of-the-art technology that would ultimately benefit all stakeholders involved in the healthcare ecosystem — payers, providers, and patients.
As a Senior Software Engineering Manager in OptumInsight, you will be both a technical and people leader within a growing team of talented software engineers in Ireland, the US and India working on developing a new state of the art, cloud based, enterprise clinical data collection, storage, and distribution platform for UnitedHealth Group, serving 90+ million people and 100 other payers beyond UnitedHealthcare. This role will involve managing and working with distributed, global teams with multiple stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Coach your direct reports, actively assist them in developing a fulfilling career whilst providing impactful value through technology to the members we serve in the healthcare system.
- Support your team’s architectural and technical decision-making
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers and senior leadership to turn vision into a roadmap
- Maintain a solid culture of engineering excellence with the user experience at the centre, focusing on CI\CD, DevOps, TDD, SRE, Security monitoring, etc.
- Maintain open, inclusive and unbiased communication and decision-making practices
- Drive engineering quality and maintain impeccable SLAs
- Define, plan and drive improvements in the design, coding practices and technology
- Hire astounding engineers

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience and training
- Strong desire to learn about new trends and technologies
- Demonstrated solid communication and interpersonal skills
- hands-on experience working in Azure cloud platforms or other cloud platforms
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work a portion of monthly work hours from our Dublin or Letterkenny office is required
- Experience in managing through goals and metrics
- Experience in a similar role mentoring software engineering professionals
- Experience delivering software using an Agile/Scrum methodology
- Experience in CI\CD environments with Jenkins, Terraform, GitHub and Containerization
- Full stack knowledge, from deployment ops and database technologies through to front end frameworks preferably in Java or Python
Preferred Qualifications:
- Senior level software development background in object-oriented design and implementation including design patterns, data structures and test-driven development
- Strong experience in automating build processes, application deployments and continuous integration systems.
- Working knowledge of APIs
- Experience with SQL, relational and graph databases
- Experience with messaging systems
- Experience in the health care industry
