The project:
The role is within the chief infrastructure office of a semi-state organisation in Ireland responsible for the delivery of high voltage station and circuit projects as well as upgrade and refurbishment projects on the existing transmission network. Responsibilities within this role will include managing these projects from conceptual phase through feasibility, statutory planning assessment and consent to handover for detailed design and construction phase.
The main purpose of the role is to manage one of our strategic projects and to provide general Project Management assistance across the full portfolio of additional major projects. The focus for the PM will be to take the project(s) through the framework. The role will involve a combination of office-based working and visits to sites where assets are located across the transmission network.

- You will deliver and manage project plans from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.
- You will manage tasks and associated deliverables in support of senior project managers and other leaders, alongside the wider project and client teams, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the project.
- Leading significant infrastructure delivery programmes aligned with the business strategy to deliver a broad range of projects in support of the 2030 Climate Action Plan.
- Leading the development of the overall approach for the programme, its major timeframes and the definition of major deliverables to address and meet the desired goals and outcomes within large projects, defining and maintaining realistic project plans, monitoring progress against agreed quality and performance criteria ensuring programmes of work are correctly allocated and resourced. This will include ensuring that appropriate project controls are in place within the team having regard to budgets, schedule, quality, risk and activity monitoring. This will include the setup of some of these structures/processes.
- Ensure a clear understanding of goals and objectives.
- Ability to inspire and motivate self and staff, and maintain alignment with our business strategy will be key to success in the role.
- Managing lead consultant to deliver required deliverables within the agreed timeframe.
- Identifying and managing Stakeholders, and ensuring regular and timely communications at all levels.
- Ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders.
- Ability to analyse issues, exercising judgement to make decisions and drive delivery of large infrastructure projects.
- Managing Risks and Issues and escalate appropriately.
- Preparing and maintaining project documentation including, programmes, project reports, risk register, issue register, daily log, etc.
- Managing change control procedures and programme governance and ensuring project boards are set up and working effectively and adhere to client policies, guidelines and standards in relation to project management.

You’ll need to have:
- An engineering degree/technically biased degree or working towards one or on an apprentice course, typically with 5+ years relevant experience.
- Work from client's Dublin office up to 2 days a week, with requirement to attend site when necessary
- Power system industry expertise, utilities/construction experience along with the ability to adapt, innovate and meet changing demands.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop, communicate and “sell” programme objectives.
- High degree of political sensitivity, astuteness and the ability to work across all levels of our organisation to achieve programme success and overcome potential obstacles.
- Knowledge of the industry, environment and context, experience working within a similar regulated utility environment and/or experience introducing new concepts, processes and ways of doing things would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication and written skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to make decisions and recommendations in all aspects of project implementation and
- Full, clean drivers licence.
You’ll also have:
- Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
- Experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the electrical sector.
- Property or infrastructure project management expertise.
- Commercial and financial acumen.
- Experience of working on projects within large, diverse teams.
- Experience of developing and forming relationships with other stakeholders within projects.
- Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
