National Broadband Ireland (NBI) is currently accepting applications for the role of Active Network Acceptance Quality Control Engineer to join their growing team!
Overview
The National Broadband Plan (NBP) is the largest ever telecommunications project undertaken by the Irish State. It aims to radically transform the country's broadband landscape through the delivery of quality, affordable high-speed broadband to all parts of Ireland where such services are not available commercially.
The NBP will ensure that all people and businesses in the Intervention Area have access to a modern and reliable broadband network, capable of supporting the communications, information, education and entertainment requirements of current and future generations.
The network will be designed, built and operated by National Broadband Ireland, using a combination of State subsidy and commercial investment. It will make its services available to all of the rollout area, which accounts for 23% of the population in about approximately 537,000 homes, farms, schools and businesses.
Key Objectives / Accountabilities:
NBI is looking for an experienced Quality Control Engineer who wants to jump in head-first and help scale a mission-driven company experiencing rapid growth. You will be responsible for the reviewing and acceptance of the quality and integrity of Active network at handover stage from our Build Partners. You will be responsible for handover to Operations, ensuring delivery to SOP standards and a seamless transition. You will work closely with construction teams for the network roll out.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit of all handover packs from construction contractor including Inventory, Active power levels and photos reviews on backhaul, core and access networks.
- QC of design work packs prior to construction.
- Oversight of network build and test parameters including SOP adherence and standards.
- End to end verification of designs and as-built documentation.
- Guarantee network resilience's and robust construction.
- Review of SOP & Active equipment for suitability.
- Trouble shoot provisioning issues during construction and hand off.
- Liaise and engage proactively with NOC, Design & Construction teams to ensure seamless build.
- Baseline network with NOC team for active monitoring.
- Support provided once handover to sales & service delivery has taken place.
Knowledge & Experience:
- 5+ years operations experience in the telco construction environment
- Hands on experience of Active construction with focus on Nokia optical elements.
- General skilled in Nokia Equipment trouble shooting, Minor DC works, Cable Management and Telco Facilities, Core Fibres, FTTx Equipment, DWDM and IP Equipment
- Familiarity with Nokia Management platforms AMS NFMP=T and NA-F
- In depth knowledge of Nokia topology and architecture with high level of experience in reading and implementing LLD & designs.
- Highly responsible with an ability to work on own initiative.
- Excellent understanding Microsoft platforms. Elements of work will be highly computer based.
- Work is office based but some travel expected with own vehicle. Reimbursement in line with company policy
