As a Solution Engineer, you will act as a vital link between the product and engineering teams Innovation Engineering projects You will define solutions, shaping architectural methods, and developing routes to implement innovative technology for SMBC (Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation) America’s Division, This position reports to the Director of the Innovation Lab.
- Possess a strong engineering background with experience in collaboration with product teams or working as a product manager.
- Develop practical and forward-thinking 360-degree solution designs to address product requirements.
- Collaborate with leaders in Business, Product, and Engineering to clarify technical needs and prepare suitable solutions, architectures, and delivery plans.
- Map entire processes and offer comprehensive solutions that cover technology requirements, processes, and downstream systems/workflows.
- Examine multiple technologies and innovations to create new methods for fulfilling the needs of a major Tier 1 banking company.
- Foresee, comprehend, and communicate the impact of technical decisions on business operations, application functions, and project timelines.
- Define technical tasks, software integration, and data integration activities.
- Work with Innovation leaders to understand current technology capabilities and suggest alternative approaches or improvements.
- Establish, maintain, and continually enhance systems of work that interact with other departments.
- Contribute to increased efficiency in R&D program execution by capturing knowledge from active programs.
- Engage with new technologies or tools employed at SMBC, establishing best practices and repeatable implementations.
- Navigate complex environments to secure approval for architectures and designs from internal governance teams.
- Over 7 years of experience in Solution Architecture or Technical Product Design within Financial Services or a major global company.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in software development.
- Extensive knowledge of AI services and Generative AI.
- Experience in implementing and building Azure Platforms and services.
- Familiarity with Governance and cloud approval processes.
- 5 years of experience creating and getting approval for systems architecture and design, with a focus on Cloud SaaS deployments and MS Azure.
- Background in innovation, working with product teams and/or business owners.
- Familiarity with major banking processes and project delivery frameworks.
- Proven track record of using technology, partners, and teams to drive business outcomes.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong background in architecture and application development.
- Capable of managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Experience with Agile product/technology development and delivery is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Over 3 years of experience in designing and developing enterprise platform solutions.
- Background working in a start-up environment.
- M&A Commercial Due Diligence experience is beneficial.
- Specialist knowledge of emerging technologies is advantageous.
- Experience in working within or leading a Lab environment.
- Significant advantage if experienced in Payments, AI, or Hyperautomation.
