- To co-operate with your employer and to comply with your responsibilities under The Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice in so far as is reasonable and practicable.
- To be familiar with and to adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- To report any concerns for the safety of our patients in the LSU to your line manager and or other manager within Nua for appropriate address in-line with company policy.
- Respect patients and their families showing dignity, courtesy, and professionalism at all times.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all information made available to him / her during the course of his / her work.
- Support patients with mental and emotional issues under the supervision of Psychiatrists and other mental health professionals.
- Support Patients in performing their daily activities.
- Provide physical and psychological care to service users in accordance with the specified plan of clinical care.
- When directed to do so take support patients with daily activities such as eating, self-care and care of their immediate environment.
- When directed to do so observe, monitor and record patients' conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations and weight
- Support Patients with therapy and rehabilitation programmes designed to enable patients to work towards their goals for independent living as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
- In line with approved plans support patients in attending ward and community events.
- To be cognisant of and communicate with qualified nursing staff any concerns around presentation or risk concerns
- To support in the overall safe running of the Low Secure Unit.
- To support the nursing and catering staff with mealtimes and food preparation on the ward.
- To develop and maintain professional working relationships with patients and work colleagues from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- To complete documentation, including patient records and timesheets.
- To comply with all Health and Safety Policies, Procedures and Practices as per the Mental Health Commission.
- To ensure PP’s and or ICP’s are up to date and that services are being always delivered to the highest possible quality and safety standards.
- To be familiar with and to adhere to the local safety statement (risk assessments and standard operating procedures) always.
- To use company IT systems as instructed and to never share your passwords with another or do anything likely to result in the unutilised disclosure of company and or personal data as defined under the General Data Protects Regulations (GDPR.
Health & Safety
- In accordance with Health and Safety at work policy, it is each staff members responsibility to observe all rules relating to Health and Safety and Conduct at Work and to use any equipment provided in a safe and responsible manner.
- Understand and adhere to all relevant Nua policies, guidelines, and procedures, comply with health and safety, infection control and risk management procedures, comply with statutory obligations.
Education & Training
- Attend induction and mandatory in-service education.
- Participate and maintain continuous personal and team-based development, education, training and learning.
- Participate in appraisal and the development of a personal development plan in conjunction with his / her line manager.

Skills Required
- Fetac Level 5 in Health Care or equivalent preferable but not essential.
- Be of good character, trustworthy, reliable and portray a positive attitude towards the Service.
- Full Clean Driver’s licence or working towards
- Flexible and adaptable nature
- Shift work over 24/7.
