Earn while you learn — Ireland's apprenticeship programmes explained
An apprenticeship is a structured programme where you work with an employer and attend off-the-job training (at a college or training centre). You earn a salary from day one while gaining a nationally recognised qualification — typically at QQI Level 6, 7, or even a full degree.
You split time between your employer (on-the-job) and a training centre or college (off-the-job). During off-the-job phases, you receive a training allowance. The employer pays your salary during on-the-job phases.
